Support Gantsilyo Filipino

(Filipino Crocheters Association)

The idea behind Gantsilyo Filipino is to equip underprivileged young mothers living in rural areas with crochet skills and know-how so that they would be able to augment their family income, and thus help in alleviating poverty from their households.

We started small. We taught mothers of schoolchildren while waiting for their kids to finish school. We taught anyone who would like to learn. Later on, we started to visit impoverished areas and teach young mothers how to crochet while caring for their kids and waiting for their husbands to come home.

Gantsilyo Filipino is mostly comprised by stay-at-home mothers and working moms dedicating some of their time to teach others to crochet. They themselves found solace in crochet, most of them crochet for a living.  They want to pay it forward and teach the joys of crochet and how crochet could help poor families put food on their table. Most of the times they even fish money out of their own pockets to buy materials and food for their students.

One of Gantsilyo Filipino's goal is to find contractors that will buy our students' items so that the women would have a sustainable source of income. From dreams to reality, we also hope to reach designers, toy shop owners,  and dress shop owners to consider buying from us so we would be able to give the funds back to the crochet community we are training.

If you are a fashion designer, a toy shop owner or a dress shop owner, and would like to collaborate with us, please feel free to shoot an email here:gantsilyofilipinoinc@gmail.com or send us a message here:

One of the biggest hurdles we are facing is commuting to these rural places. Travel is expensive as well as the logistics of ferrying materials to one barangay from the city.  As such, we would like to ask for your help in raising funds so we could buy a second-hand van or truck we could turn into a Mobile Crochet University.  This will also serve as our 'hotel' if we are to service provinces that would require 8-10 hours of straight driving.

Please help us realize the dreams of every Filipino mother, to always have food on the table and not worried that their young ones have nothing to feed on.

Help our Volunteer Crochet Artists travel with dignity so more volunteers will join us to teach a living.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

For donors of 100 USD or more, we would like to send you a limited edition Crochet Shawl valued at 125USD.  It is 100% handmade. For donors outside the Philippines, please help us shoulder shipping expenses so we will be able to send you your item. (colors may vary)
